On an early autumn day I made the drive from Denver to the top of 10,000 foot summit Kenosha Pass in Colorado. It was a frigid morning and the meadow grasses around a small lake were covered in thick frost. The early morning light reflecting off the lake made a perfect background for the frost covered grass in this photo.
Growing up in Minnesota, I was always captivated by the sight of the sun rising over misty lakes and the desire to find a way to capture those images on film. That desire to capture a beautiful sunrise has always stayed with me. When I moved to Colorado more than twenty years ago, the inspiration of our state’s beauty and my love of photography met and became one. At home or when traveling the world, I enjoy finding unexpected ways to view both the common and the extraordinary and share these through my photography. All images ©2000-2021 Kevin Schwalbe.
