The scene captures a dramatic sunset at Cannon Beach with Haystack Rock and the Needles reflected in the shallow water. Cotton-candy clouds dominate the sky, blending hues of orange, pink, and blue. A 20 second long exposure was used to capture the movement of the clouds and create the stillness in the ocean waves.

Growing up in Minnesota, I was always captivated by the sight of the sun rising over misty lakes and the desire to find a way to capture those images on film. That desire to capture a beautiful sunrise has always stayed with me. When I moved to Colorado more than twenty years ago, the inspiration of our state’s beauty and my love of photography met and became one. At home or when traveling the world, I enjoy finding unexpected ways to view both the common and the extraordinary and share these through my photography.
