I was lucky to make the drive from Denver on a rainy afternoon hoping to catch an amazing sunset from the summit of Mount Evans. Nature put on an fantastic show that evening. Mount Evans is only about 50 miles west, but it's a world away from Denver. The summit of Mount Evans has an elevation of 14,130 feet and can be reached by a twisting, winding road that has the honor of being highest paved road in North America. It's not for the faint of heart, but the payoff is well worth it.
Growing up in Minnesota, I was always captivated by the sight of the sun rising over misty lakes and the desire to find a way to capture those images on film. That desire to capture a beautiful sunrise has always stayed with me. When I moved to Colorado more than twenty years ago, the inspiration of our state’s beauty and my love of photography met and became one. At home or when traveling the world, I enjoy finding unexpected ways to view both the common and the extraordinary and share these through my photography.
