This photo of a field of sunflowers at sunset was intentionally blurred to make an interesting abstract photo. I shot this in the middle of August near Denver, Colorado. Colorado had five large wildfires burning at the time which made for some intense sunsets due to all the smoke in the air. The oranges and yellows were very intense while the smoke covered any clouds in the sky.
Growing up in Minnesota, I was always captivated by the sight of the sun rising over misty lakes and the desire to find a way to capture those images on film. That desire to capture a beautiful sunrise has always stayed with me. When I moved to Colorado more than twenty years ago, the inspiration of our state’s beauty and my love of photography met and became one. At home or when traveling the world, I enjoy finding unexpected ways to view both the common and the extraordinary and share these through my photography.
